Know the Following Types of headaches

Different types of headaches are not an uncommon ailment among so many people. This causes it to often be ignored and not immediately cared for, especially by utilizing personal health insurance for medication. This is true especially for busy students and workers that they often forget to keep their bodies in top shape.

In 2007, International Headache Society has defined a classification system of of types of headaches. With this new classification system, doctors can be more specific in diagnosing the type of patients’ headaches and provide more accurate and effective medication. The system defines three types of headaches, namely primary, secondary, and neuralgia or cranial nerve pain.

The primary headache includes the following headaches:

  • Migrain

The vascular headache type known as migrain or partial head pain is commonly had by many people. It is caused by inflamation of blood vessels in the brain, causing pressure to neural cells which results in the head pain.

  • Tensionary headaches

As it is called, tensionary headaches is caused by tensions from contraction in the muscles around the head. The pain usually start sat the ack of the head and upper neck, and is often  described as pressures. This headache is often caused as the body is kept at long times without many movements, making them tense.

  • Custer headaches

This head pain is part of the vascular headaches, and occurs in stages starting from mild pain and worsens in minutes. Cluster headaches can occur repeatedly within days or even weeks, or in clusters.

Besides primary headaches, there are also secondary headaches which are caused by structural problems in the head or neck. These aches are commonly resulting from other ailments such as influenza, sinusitis, high blood pressure, to meningitis.

Last, there is the neuralgia or cranial nerve pain type of headache. Cranial neuralgia desscribes  the head pains occcuring duet o the nerve in the neck, head and the upper parts of the body is inflammated and become the source of pain to the head. Neuralgia can also be casued by facial pains.
